Operation Safe Night: Founding Partners Invited to Help Communities Get Home Safe

Women Against Diabetes (WAD), operating through Veterans Against Diabetes (VAD), is opening founding-partner outreach for Operation Safe Night: Protect the Drink. Protect the Person. Get Home Safe.

Operation Safe Night is a developing community-safety initiative focused on drink-spiking awareness, safer social experiences, responsible alcohol decisions, the intersection of alcohol and diabetes, and safe transportation partnerships.

Why this matters: prevention starts before an emergency. We want to help people notice warning signs, look out for one another, ask for assistance when they feel unsafe, and make safer decisions about getting home.

We invite manufacturers of drink-safety tools, educators, transportation providers, local businesses, community organizations, and prospective sponsors to explore how they could contribute. We welcome product donations, technical evidence, educational resources, nonprofit pricing, in-kind support, and other creative partnership ideas. We have not set donation ceilings or assumed any partner commitments.

Safety comes first. Drink-spiking test products have limits, and a negative test cannot guarantee that a beverage is safe. We will review product instructions and available independent evidence before any distribution. People who may have been drugged or are in medical danger should seek immediate help; a ride program is not an emergency medical response.

FOUNDING PARTNERS ARE INVITED NOW. Product distribution, sponsored rides, venue participation, and public events are NOT yet operating; those services will be announced only when partners, safety procedures, permissions, and resources are confirmed.

Our first outreach is focused on Northwest Indiana, with hopes to develop a repeatable model that other communities can adapt. Activities will be conducted independently of anyone's paid employment and only with the permission of participating venues.
